Agricola Punica Isola dei Nuraghi Samas 750ml -

Agricola Punica Isola dei Nuraghi Samas 750ml

Samas is named after the Punic God of the Sun. Vermentino and Chardonnay grapes grown in sandy soil are hand harvested at dawn to maintain characteristic varietal notes and freshness. Cryomaceration techniques prevent oxidation, resulting in a bright, vibrant wine. With prolonged fermentation using selected yeasts at controlled temperatures (60˚ Fahrenheit), the wine remains on the less for approximately 40 days. Vinified separately, the varieties rest in small concrete vats for 3 months once blended. To retain maximum character and freshness, Samas is neither filtered nor clarified.

Agricola Punica is an undertaking between world renowned names in the winemaking business: Dr. Sebastiano Rosa (with a 40% share), Sardinian winery Cantina Sociale di Santadi (40%), Tenuta San Guido, under the direction of Marchese Nicoló Incisa della Rocchetta (10%), Santadi president Antonello Pilloni (5%), and legendary Tuscan consulting enologist Giacomo Tachis (5%).In 2002, Agricola Punica purchased a 370-acre estate divided between two vineyard sites, Barrua and Narcao, located in Sardinia’s southwest, in an area known as Sulcis Meridionale. Though the vineyards lie within the DOC of Carignano del Sulcis, the wine falls under the IGT of Isola dei Nuraghi, which refers to the island’s ancient stone structures. The first vintage of Barrua was 2002; Montessu was first produced in 2005.
