Enemigo 89 is aged traditionally for over a year, resting in custom-made American Oak barrels which infuse and colour the liquid. What happens next however, is different. We then remove the now dark tequila from the barrels under the watchful eye of our Maestro Tequilero.
One of the few distilleries located in the center of the actual town of Tequila, Jalisco in Mexico. Our distillery uses modern technology to achieve 50% less water, 60% less energy usage than traditional distilleries. This modernization of the process also means that during our production no fossil fuels are burned as our ovens are heated using the left over agave husks, and we manage to extract 15% more juice from each agave.
