Founded in 1895, Gordon & Macphail began bottling single malts under license from Scotland's esteemed distilleries and selling these special spirits at their family grocery in Elgin. John Urquhart enhanced the business started by James Gordon, working with the likes of Macallan, Glenlivet, Glen Grant, Linkwood and Mortlach to hand-select Spanish oak and ex-sherry casks aged much longer than was the norm at the time.
